Mrs Howells is drawn in Derwent Drawing Pencils on Canson Mi-Teintes paper
This was a posthumous portrait that I was asked to do. Mr Howells just had a very faded photograph of his wife, and some black and white negatives of their wedding.
It is a particular honour to depict a portrait under these circumstances. It was clear that she was a very charming lovely lady so I infused the portrait with that feeling.
I have read that most portraitists insist on good photos to work from, but I understand that there is a greater need for a portrait when photographs are of poor quality. I have been successful with a number of this type of portrait.
