Ida's Smile is drawn in graphite pencil on paper.

Ida is the loveliest lady with a beautiful kind gentle smile. I wanted to capture it in a portrait for a long time before I was able get two photographic sessions. I got lots of photos of her but that fleeting smile was difficult to catch.

Once I had achieved the portrait I wanted, I gave it to her daughter. It is the making of the portrait and getting the result I want that makes me happy.
