Portrait of a Mare is pen and ink on Graphic film. The eyes are coloured in on the reverse. I tried to draw this black mare a number of times. I painted her and I tried to do her portrait on Scraperboard but I had trouble controlling that because the black kept flaking off the chalk. I have since tried working on the US version called Scratchbord which is black on white clay. It is much easier to control and I recommend it.
